Meet the Author

Hi, I'm Kirsten.

I'm a writer, author, wife, mother, and lifelong work in progress.

For most of my life, I thought things needed to fit neatly into boxes.

Good or bad. Right or wrong. Success or failure. Happy or unhappy.

Over the years, I've learned that life rarely works that way.

Some of the greatest growth in my life has come from becoming comfortable with everything that exists in between.

I've learned that I can deeply love someone and still recognize that a relationship isn't healthy for me. I can forgive without forgetting what an experience taught me. I can be incredibly grateful for my life while acknowledging the parts I want to change. I can have tremendous faith and still have questions.

And I've learned that healing doesn't mean reaching some magical place where difficult emotions disappear.

It means learning how to make room for them without allowing them to define us.

Writing has become one of the ways I make sense of all of that.

In 2026, I published my first book, Within: A Journey Back to Self, a deeply personal memoir about family, estrangement, forgiveness, boundaries, grief, healing, and ultimately finding my way back to myself.

But publishing Within made me realize something else:

I wasn't finished writing.

Not even close.

There are so many conversations I still want to have. About marriage and motherhood. Family and generational patterns. Success and money. Faith and spirituality. Relationships. Identity. Changing our minds. Learning ourselves. Unlearning what no longer fits. And all of those strange little moments in ordinary life that somehow teach us the most.

That's why I created In the Gray.

Not because I have all the answers.

I don't.

I created it because I've discovered how powerful it can be when someone puts words to something you've quietly been carrying and you suddenly think:

Oh. Someone else feels this too.

That's what I hope my writing can continue to do.

When I'm not writing, you'll usually find me somewhere in the middle of ordinary family life with my husband and our three children, probably drinking coffee, spending time outside, scribbling something into one of the many notebooks scattered throughout my house, or stopping whatever I'm doing because another sentence has appeared in my head that I absolutely cannot trust myself to remember later.

I'm still becoming.

Still learning.

Still healing.

Still changing.

And I'll probably always be.

If you're doing the same, you're in good company.

Welcome to the gray.

I'm really glad you're here.
